If you're interested in submitting something to Cycle, before we get along into the process you should know our rules. We have just a few, but they're inviolate.
- You must like the piece for what it is.
- You must like the piece for what it is about.
- You must not be bored by it.
No exceptions.
Essentially, if you don't like what you want to submit, we don't want you to submit it. Especially if you're bored by it. We already get bored too easily.
That said, feel encouraged to submit whatever you want.
Yes, there are gatekeepers here, they do choose. But there are more than one and they don't always agree. They bicker and snap at each other and argue for and against things. We promise this: if you submit something, we will review it. If you submit, we will respond.
Send words in the body of an email to richard@acycle.org. If you want to submit an image or some sounds, kindly send a note first. Unexpected attachments will be assumed aggressive and deleted mercilessly.
As far as rights go, of course we get the right to display and archive the work, and if we so choose, to publish it at least once in print. Other than that, you retain all rights. It's your work, after all. Do with it whatever you can.
Multiple submissions are fine, but if you do sell or publish work you submit to us somewhere else, please do us the courtesy of letting us know in a timely fashion. If we find that a work is currently published elsewhere and we were not notified, it will be immediately removed and no future submissions will be considered. Courtesy here, folks.
Plagiarism is, of course, intolerable. If we discover that you've plagiarized, your work will be immediately removed and no future submissions will be considered. And you should probably take some time to reconsider your life.
We're doing this primarily because we love to do it. Because we're driven to do it. If you're driven to create things and to share them, then we want you to be a part. But not otherwise.
All right, you can get back to life now. Send word when you want to.
