a cigarette is a piece of clothing that must be put back on every hour or so.
the laws of nature do not change, transgress.
broken hearts are for lovers, they are not for me, for us.
smile fades as we part ways.
it will not return, but for the recognition
of a chance encounter,
too brief
to breathe.

smoking cigarettes
in the sun
causes cancer,
but where else can i look for inspiration?
she, my mistress,
whose lips i taste
my tongue burning
and tar.

ready for something new.
